The Kelowna Canoe and Kayak Club brings canoeists and kayakers together to share information, to develop river, lake and ocean paddling skills, to offer safe recreational trips and hold social functions.

Why should I join?

Membership brings you an immediate network of like-minded, active people. You’re invited to take part in all club activities and outings.

You get monthly newsletters during the paddling season. The newsletter gives notice of meetings and trips, information on equipment for sale, and articles on canoeing and kayaking.

Regular club meetings feature videos and slides of club activities, trips, competitions and instructional films.

Each Fall, we hold a windup dinner with "award" presentations in various categories.

Do I need my own boat?

The club has some boats which can be used as demo's and for learning for members only. Boats must be pre-booked. Click HERE for the club boat policies. Rental boats are also available locally. Try our commercial members.

Can I get lessons?

Yes. Each summer certified instructors offer "flat water" or lake lessons and sea kayak lessons through the club. We have many well-experienced members who offer valuable coaching.

The club encourages all members to be versed in rescue techniques and each member is ultimately responsible for themselves.

Where do we go?

During the paddling season (April– Sept.) members meet every Wednesday evening for an informal paddle, launching from various local sites. Sunday outings to a variety of lakes and locations in the Central Okanagan are also scheduled throughout the paddling season. Click HERE to view schedule.

Each summer brings a few leisurely two or three day camping trips as well as day long outings suitable for all levels of ability,

A variety of destinations are chosen from the rivers and lakes in the Okanagan, Shuswap, Similkameen and Kootenay regions.

Where and when do we meet?

Regular monthly meetings start at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month, from April through September at the May Bennett Wellness Centre, 135 Davie Road, corner of Davie & Hwy 33. Meetings feature news on upcoming trips and activities, education presentations, and slides or videos of club trips.
